Remember When…
Our senior project was broad and could be left to our creativity and imagination but my professor left us with something to think about. To think about something that could be relevant in today’s world, the new world of 2020 and could possibly solve a relevant problem. What inspired me was how we all are stressed, anxious and experiencing unpredictable change everyday. This got me to think about how I’m coping, I was drawn to vintage clothing and thinking back to happier times, this I found out is called nostalgia. Nostalgia can happen out of nowhere, as well as from a result of stress or change but it can become addictive if people focus too much on the past. My exhibit was devoted to this user experience and how various senses such as sight, sound and smell contribute to activating nostalgia. In order to do this I hoped my collages from various eras would bring out possible memories along with music from each era, linked to the QR code below, and smells for people to try. I would also inform the user at the end that remembering the past is good but past is past and we have to keep moving forward.
